There are many skills to be learned, but the great news is the internet is a wonderful resource. One of the first skills you should learn is how to make basic repairs around your home.

Handyman YouTube channels are a great way to get walked through a variety of basic handyman skills you’ll want under your belt. You can easily learn these skills in the comfort of your own home.

1. The Handyman

When we first began homesteading, I was fortunate to have a husband who had worked in construction for 13 years. He has taught me a great deal along the way.

If you don’t have a mentor, The Handyman YouTube channel could be helpful to you. It walks you through all the home repair basics you could ever need and shares quite a few renovation projects to inspire you.

2. Adventures of a Handyman

My first home on our smaller homestead was a complete fixer upper. I needed to know how to replace everything inside and outside of the home.

If you’re considering purchasing a fixer-upper and need to know how to remodel your home the right way, this YouTube channel has plenty of wisdom you can glean from.

3. Ultimate Handyman

Are you new to using tools? Are you unsure of how to use certain tools properly or even which tools to buy? This channel has you covered.

They give you basic how-to videos on repairs, share their opinion of tools they use themselves, and how to use those tools properly.

4. Family Handyman

If you’re a new homeowner, this is the channel for you. Their videos cover everything homeowners should and want to know.

They have videos which cover what you should be doing as a homeowner every month, but they also share fun home projects to give your home character. They even cover a few homesteading projects such as building beehives.

5. Gosforth Handyman

This YouTube channel has a great deal to do with woodworking. There are videos which walk you through the different strengths of wood and safety videos for the tools you’ll use while woodworking.

However, he also covers how to build neat projects around your home like under the stair storage or a gorgeous fireplace.

6. Ana White

I’m a huge fan of Ana White. She’s talented and shares many fun projects. If you’re someone looking to learn basic skills and build functional items, this is your site.

Ana has a way of creating plans which are easy to read and understand. You may need some help along the way, but her videos do a great job at explaining the process of building everything you need both inside and outside of your home.

When I was younger, I remember my grandfather watching This Old House on television. He was a woodworker and loved seeing the beauty they’d create in different houses.

Times have changed, and you can now keep up with the beauty being crafted by This Old House on YouTube. If you need inspiration or want to learn how to renovate your house, this channel has all you need.

8. Handyman Startup

Whether you’re new to working with your hands, or you have a knack for it and would like to create a business to be self-sufficient on your homesteading journey, this channel has it all.

They share everything from how-to videos for basic home repairs to marketing tips for expanding your business.

9. Spirit of a Handyman

I love the layout of this channel. The videos are labeled perfectly to make it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for.

Whether you’re investing in a property you plan on living in long-term, or if you’re flipping houses to get to the homestead of your dreams this channel can help you along the way.

10. High Ridge Handyman

If you’re feeling uncertain of what tools you should be using when renovating your new homestead house, this channel can help.

He specializes in offering honest tool reviews and shares when deals are offered through his local big box tool stores. This channel is informative but could also help you save money while remodeling.

This channel is a gold mine for the homesteading newbie. The gentleman who runs it has been in the construction business for decades. He shares a plethora of knowledge from installing anything from lights to dryer vents.

Plus, the channel offers projects for a variety of levels. He also covers safety information which would be helpful for beginners.  

12. Ask the Builder

This channel is unique because it offers a variety of uncommon tips. They say they’ll help you do the job right instead of having to repeat it, and their goal is to help you save both money and time.

They cover everything from how to unclog a toilet to installing large garage doors. If you’re interested in learning how to do more around your home this channel can help you get started and hopefully help you skip the frustration home projects frequently bring about.

Ron Hazelton is one of the originals when it comes to home improvement reality TV. It should come as no surprise his YouTube channel would make the list.

This channel is amazing! Two sisters who are woodworkers, show you how to build amazing furniture and other home projects. They create beautiful and inexpensive masterpieces which can give you a gorgeous space on a smaller budget.
