Are you ready to pull out all of your Christmas decorations? Hard to believe it is already that time of year, isn’t it?
Well, Christmas is fast approaching and with it comes lots of decisions. Where will you put the tree? Will you go with traditional décor or something new and trendy?
Perhaps the biggest decoration decision comes down to the tree itself. How will you decorate it? Will you have an old-fashioned Christmas, or will you decorate it with new, modern colors?
Maybe you’ll make your tree look like something totally different, such as Santa?
Well, I’m going to bring you some of the internet’s best Christmas tree decorating ideas. That way you can browse through them and find some inspiration for your own tree this year.
Here are the Christmas Tree Decorating Ideas:
1. Christmas Tree in a Wrought Iron Basket
I love this idea for decorating your Christmas tree because you can still go traditional on the actual tree décor.
But you can spruce it up a bit by placing your tree in a wrought iron basket and surrounding it in burlap. It looks gorgeous and feels warm and cozy.
2. Climbing Bear Christmas Tree
I think this idea is actually very cute. I’m going to link to where you can actually purchase it if you desire to do so.
But you could easily recreate it with your own larger tree. Just put a few larger stuffed bears in your larger tree, and you’d have something unique and cute to look at all holiday season.
3. The Rustic O Christmas Tree
This tree is jammed packed full of different trinkets and decorations that scream a traditional, old-fashioned Christmas.
So if you are looking for that trend, then you should look closely to see what items you can find and recreate this look with your own tree.
4. A Deer Tree
This tree is very eye-catching, and it isn’t just because of how large it is. They took some really gorgeous ribbon and waterfalled it down the tree.
Then they placed a deer head at the top and used brightly colored tensile to make it look like antlers coming off of the tree.
5. Rustic Farmhouse Christmas Tree
I really like this Christmas tree because there are lots of details, without it feeling overwhelming and cramped.
So if you are looking for a rustic, farmhouse Christmas tree, then consider using wooden ornaments, and buckets to hold your presents beneath it.
6. Buffalo Check Plaid Christmas
There is something about buffalo plaid check that just says, “Hey! I’m woodsy, rustic, warm, and cozy.” If you are looking for that welcoming theme this year, then you’ll love this tree.
Basically, they decorated their tree in a traditional style, but instead of using bright ribbon or tensile, they wrapped the tree in buffalo check plaid ribbon. Then put a burlap skirt beneath it.
7. Rustic, White Christmas Tree
This Christmas tree doesn’t have the traditional bright green feel to it. Instead, it is white or ‘snow covered'.
Then they added big white ornaments to the tree, and cascaded a burlap ribbon down the tree. The finishing touch is a large burlap star at the top.
8. Neutral, Rustic Christmas Tree
This Christmas tree is gorgeous and all handmade. There is an actual tutorial of how she made each individual ornament.
So if you are looking for a less expensive way to have a gorgeous tree this year, then you’ll want to check this one out.
9. The Wooden Star Christmas Tree
This Christmas tree stood out to me because it is colorful, traditional, and absolutely gorgeous too. They decorate the tree with traditional candy cane ornaments.
Then they added burlap ribbon, a wooden star, and put a pretty sleigh at the base of the tree to hold presents.
10. The Sleigh-Ride Christmas Tree
You don’t have to have a large tree in order to have a festive Christmas. This tree is a prime example of how you can still make your house feel homey for the holidays without a large tree.
So they took a smaller tree and placed it inside a basket. Then placed the basket on an older sleigh. It definitely screams, “Christmas!” without being overwhelming in size.
11. The Criss Crossed Ribbon
This is a gorgeous way of giving your tree an updated look. You can decorate it as traditional as you like, or you could go with brighter colors.
But then you follow the tutorial on making your ribbons cross one another for a totally different look. It is really pretty.
12. Rustic Marquee Christmas Tree
I love this tree because it is a tasteful combination of so many of the ideas already shared up to this point. There are homey decorations, buffalo checked plaid ribbon and a large wooden star.
Then the tree is finished with large wooden letters going down the front that spell Noel. It is just a really gorgeous tree that stands out in all the right ways.
13. Black and White Christmas Tree
Are you looking for a modern Christmas tree? If so, then you’ll want to check this one out. It has a black-and-white theme.
So everything from the decorations to the presents below are decorated in black and white. It is an eye-catching yet simple design.
14. The Modern Christmas Tree
This tree is another one that certainly has a modern flair to it. The top of the tree is white while it fades to black as it goes down.
Then the look is finished with black and white ball ornaments, modern letters spelling Xmas at the bottom of the tree, and packages that follow the same color scheme.
15. The Santa Christmas Tree
This tree is all things Santa. The ornaments are little stockings or other colored ornaments that match the themed ones.
Then the tree skirt is decorated like Santa’s outfit, and the look is completed with a Santa hat at the top of the tree.
16. Elf Christmas Tree
This Christmas tree is rather loud and busy but in a good way. If you like something that is super festive and full of color, then you’ll want to check it out.
So they filled the tree with ornaments that look like an elf. Some of them are faces and others are of candy. Then you see elf feet sticking out all over the place as well. It is really cute.
17. Harley Quinn Tree
You guys probably would have never guessed this about me, but I’m a huge Harley Quinn fan. I know, you aren’t supposed to like the bad guys, but I love her accent!
So when I saw her tree, I had to share it with others that might like her as well. I think it is a really cute idea and very kid friendly.
18. Darth Vader Tree
We have friends that are huge Star Wars fans, and my boys are actually pretty big fans themselves. Which is why I thought this tree was worth a share.
Now, I realize it won’t be for everyone, but for those that love this movie series, you just might want a tree to show that love this holiday season.
19. Dress Form Christmas Tree
Are you trying to save a lot of money, but you still want your house to be cute this holiday season? If you have an old dress form, you could spruce it up a bit and have a great tree.
So all you’ll need is some fabric for the top and some tree branches for the bottom. It would definitely be eye-catching, festive, and pretty.
20. Shanty 2 Chic Christmas Tree
I love this blog. It has tons of cute ideas and most are DIY. They have a knack for taking something that most think can’t be done on a budget.
Yet, they always seem to recreate it on that tight budget. So this tree is one I’m super excited about because it is rustic, gorgeous, but still has a special touch as the tree skirt is a galvanized bucket.
21. Elf Stuck in a Tree
I love this tree because I think it would be fun if you plan on having children around this holiday season.
So you decorate your tree to look like a snowman, but then you make it look like the elf actually got stuck in the tree. It should get a few laughs.
22. Cookie Monster Tree
This Cookie Monster tree is perfect for those that love Sesame Street. You’ll need a blue tree and some lights.
Then you finish it out with a few homemade decorations for the eyes and mouth. You’ll have your own personal Cookie Monster in no time flat.

You see people turn their Christmas trees into different characters all of the time. But if you have a smaller tree, then you might want to consider this penguin.
Not only is it absolutely adorable, but it is a great way to make a smaller tree stand out this holiday season.
24. The Snowman Tree
I love this tree idea, and I have for years! If you have an all-white Christmas tree, then you might want to consider this idea.

27. The Mickey Mouse Tree
Do you love Disney World or Disney Land? Are you a huge fan of Mickey Mouse? My sister is that way. She goes to Disney World every chance she gets just to visit Mickey, and she is (ahem) older than I am!
So if you are someone who just loves all things Disney, then you might like this idea of making your tree Disney themed too.
28. Cross Christmas Tree
Christmas is a spiritual time for a lot of people. Why not carry that over into your decorations for the season?
Well, now you can when you use this idea to make your Christmas tree look like a cross. Then you can decorate it as traditional or non-traditional as you like.
29. Snowman Tree
This snowman tree is a little different than the one mentioned above. The topper for the tree is an actual snowman head.
Then you can still use your basic green tree. Only this one is wrapped in white ribbon instead of the whole tree being white.
