2. The Chicken Wire Cabinet Doors
This isn’t exactly a tutorial but it does show lots of great pictures of an absolutely gorgeous kitchen. But what did stick out to me are the chicken wire cabinet doors.
So looking at one picture of this should help most people get an idea of how they could duplicate the look in their own kitchen.

I love Ana White. She provides amazing tutorials and this one is no different. It is for a base cabinet and is pretty easy to get idea of what you are building and how to do so.

This tutorial/testimonial is a great resource if you are considering building your own kitchen cabinets. This woman literally built all of her own kitchen cabinets.
Not to mention, she provides awesome pictures that could potentially inspire your kitchen cabinet build. I love reading stories like this because if they can do it, it makes me feel like I can too!
10. My Own Kitchen Cabinets
As I mentioned earlier, we actually built our own kitchen cabinets. I chose to go with open shelving. This saved a lot of money on wood as I didn’t have to frame up every cabinet.
Plus, I didn’t have to waste wood for doors. I liked the way it looked like an old farm kitchen since I was able to add a set of curtains to cover under the sink. I love the rustic design in my kitchen, and I loved how we were able to remodel our whole kitchen for around $1,000.
11. DIY Refrigerator Enclosure
When you build your own cabinets there are certain things that you might not consider, but a refrigerator enclosure is something that you might need to build.
So if you do need one, this tutorial should be helpful to you. There a great pictures and solid instructions too. I’m a visual person so those are two key components for me when I go to build something.
12. Pallet Wood Kitchen Cabinets

If you are looking for an inexpensive way to build some upper kitchen cabinets, then you might want to consider these.
The reason is because they are constructed of plywood. Plywood is usually an inexpensive building material, and the cabinets are beautiful in my opinion. So if you are working on a tight budget, then you might want to consider this option because of the inexpensive materials that are used.
14. Pull Out Cabinet Drawers
If you have cabinets that you can still make work for your kitchen, then by all means keep them and save yourself a lot of money.
However, you can still redo them to make them more functional. You can do this by adding inserts that are able to be pulled out. We had these in my house growing up, and they made life so much easier because then nothing could hide in your cabinets. This tutorial is said to be cost efficient and helpful as well.
15. Pull Out Drawer Tutorial
This is another helpful tutorial by Ana White. Again, if you have solid kitchen cabinets that can be reworked with a little paint and some new knobs, then don’t take on the extra task of rebuilding your kitchen cabinets.
However, you could still give old cabinets new functionality by adding these pull out drawers. The pictures and the tutorial itself is a thorough guide to help you along in this build.

18. 42” Base Blind Corner Cabinet
This is the type of cabinet I have in the corner of my kitchen. It looks like the cabinets end without going into the corner.
However, instead one of the cabinets extend so you get that extra storage space in the corner. So if you like this look instead of building a corner cabinet, then you might want to consider these plans.
19. Wall Corner Pie Cut Kitchen Cabinet
This cabinet would work great in a lot of corners. It is a type of cabinet that it works well to have a Lazy Susan in the corner.
So we actually had this type of cabinet in our first home. It was nice and easy to keep organized for the most part.
20. 18” Kitchen Cabinet Drawer Base
You can never have enough drawers in your kitchen, in my opinion. If you are in need of a design to add a cabinet with more drawers in your kitchen, then you might want a design similar to this.
However, this is another Ana White tutorial. The pictures, plans, and tutorial are usually very thorough very her site. So you might want to take those points into consideration when checking out this design.
21. Updated Dishwasher
If you are doing traditional style cabinets, then you might like this idea that disguises your dishwasher a little. I had never really considered disguising my dishwasher until recently. I bought a dishwasher magnet and am thrilled.
So this cabinet is another built in option that is a great way to keep your dishwasher (because that is a vital part to most kitchens) without it ruining the flow of the kitchen. The design looks pretty simple as well.
Well, there are 21 helpful DIY plans to help you build your kitchen cabinets and other kitchen cabinet items that will help you update your kitchen on a budget.
