21. Canary Creeper

via SFGate

This is another beautiful plant that blooms bright yellow flowers. They add a lot of color to wherever they bloom.

So if you’d like to brighten up your trellis, then you should probably give this plant some consideration.

22. Squash

Squash is a beautiful vegetable plant. They have bright yellow blooms prior to forming squash. Then the squash form and bring unique ornaments and colors to the mix.

Plus, if you grow them on a trellis, then you don’t have to worry about bending over or digging under the giant leaves to pick them.

23. Strawberries

Strawberries are another plant that you can plant on a trellis. They will grow, flow, and bloom all over a trellis.

Then when you go to pick them, it should make your life a little easier than bending down and hunting through vines to find ripe strawberries.

24. Watermelon

We used to grow watermelon every year for my mother-in-law because she loved it so much. Especially as she got closer to the end of her life, watermelon was just something she simply craved.

So to avoid having watermelons running all over our garden, we created little homemade trellises and grew watermelon on them for her. It worked really well!

25. Cantaloupe

The same time I began growing watermelon on trellises, I also began growing my cantaloupe on trellises too.

Simply put, it was so much easier to keep up with the health and growth of the fruits. I will probably never go back to growing melons on the ground again.

26. Pumpkins

Pumpkins, I know, belong to the squash family. But many people would see the term squash and never think pumpkin, and I agree with them because I rarely make that connection.

So I wanted to clarify that pumpkins are another great plant to grow on a trellis. It supports them, makes picking them easier, and it also helps you to keep the pumpkins from rotting before you can pick them. It is another item I doubt I’ll ever go back to not growing on a trellis again.

Well, now you have over 20 items that you can grow on a trellis. Whether you have a long walkway to a gorgeous flower garden with a nice sitting area, you have a small archway into your flower or vegetable garden, or maybe you just have a trellis sitting out in your backyard for beauty, you now have a way of adding more beauty to it.

Hopefully, you’ve found an idea that you think will work well for your situation and give you an area in your yard that you really enjoy.

But I’d like to know, do you have a trellis in your yard? Would you mind sharing it with us? We’d love to see different designs and set-ups as it serves as an inspiration to the rest of our Morning Chore’s Community.

Also, what do you grow on your trellis? Do you have any tips on making things grow full and thick on your trellis?

We love hearing from you so drop us a line in the comment box that is provided below.
