Do you use dryer sheets in your laundry routine?

Are you tired of purchasing them to only have one use for the dryer sheets?  Maybe you are looking for a way to reuse the used dryer sheets?

Whatever category you fall into, you’ll be happy to know that dryer sheets have lots of other purposes around your home besides being thrown into the dryer.

If you are interested in putting your dryer sheets to work, then keep reading because your mind is about to be blown with all the different uses for them.

Uses for Dryer Sheets

Here is what you can do with dryer sheets beside tossing them in the dryer:

1. Fan Freshener

via gradeslam.org

You can place a dryer sheet on the backside of your fan and let it blow. As the fan blows, it will also deliver a fresh scent to the room.

2. Pet Hair Grabber

If you have pets, then you have pet hair. Don’t worry about the lint roller. Instead use a dryer sheet to collect pet hair from clothing, the floor, or furniture.

3. Car Freshener

Car fresheners get expensive and don’t last very long for the money spent. Instead of buying a freshener, just put a dryer sheet in your car and let it release a fresh scent.

4. Pot Cleaner

If you have stubbornly stuck on grease, then you need to put your pots in the sink with warm water, soap, and dryer sheets. It helps to remove the grease.

5. Drawer Freshener

If you have drawers that smell musky, then you need to consider placing a dryer sheet in them. It will release a fresh scent and kill the musky odors.

6. Soap Scum Remover

via housekeeping.wonderhowto.com

Soap scum is one of the toughest things to clean in a home, in my opinion. You can rub a dryer sheet over the area and the soap scum should come off with a little elbow grease.

7. Duster

Dusting isn’t much fun. It flies everywhere and often lands in a new location. When you dust with dryer sheets, it pulls the dust out and makes the area rubbed with it, less likely to attract new dust particles.

8. Pet Deodorizer

If you have a pet that goes inside and out, you may be surprised by the odors they attract. If you want to ditch the pet odors without bathing your pet to death, just wipe them down with a dryer sheet when they come inside.

9. Trash Can Deodorizer

If you want to keep foul odors from ruining the scent of your home, then you need to place dryer sheets in the bottom of your trash can.

10. Gym Bag Deodorizer

Gym bags are a breeding ground for odors. Sweaty clothes just don’t smell good, but you can change that by tossing a dryer sheet into the bag.

11. Freshen Luggage

Luggage gets musky when stored and can smell bad when traveling home because of dirty clothes. Don’t let odors ruin your luggage. Instead, put a dryer sheet inside for a fresh scent.

12. Chrome Buffer

Buffing chrome has never been so easy as it is with rubbing a dryer sheet over the area. It will shine in no time flat.

13. Mosquito Repellent

via thespruce.com

There is something about the scent of dryer sheets that mosquitoes just don’t enjoy. If you get eaten alive by mosquitoes, consider putting some dryer sheets in your pockets or tied around a belt loop to deter them.

14. Home Air Freshener

I mentioned putting dryer sheets on a fan to freshen your home, but what about just placing dryer sheets around your home for a fresh scent? Put them under couch cushions and other discrete areas for a fresh scent.

15. Reduce Hair Static

Hair becomes static prone during the winter months. If your hair is flying away, then consider running a dryer sheet over it to calm the static.

16. Ditch the Static Cling

We use dryer sheets in the dryer, but there are some materials (especially during winter) that cling as we walk. Just pull out a dryer sheet and swipe it over the clothing to keep it down.

17. Deters Dust on Blinds

If you get a lot of dust on your blinds, consider swiping them with a dryer sheet. This will deter dust from landing on them, which makes for easier cleaning.

18. Freshens Stuffed Animals

If your kids have stuffed animals that aren’t necessarily dirty, but they need a quick freshening, then wipe them down with a dryer sheet. It will make them fresh without washing them to pieces.

19. Toilet Cleaner

Hard water stains are a nightmare to clean, but they can make your toilet look nasty. Instead, place two dryer sheets inside the toilet and let sit. Then use a toilet brush to scrub clean.

20. Windshield Cleaner

We all get bugs on our windshields and car grills. When this happens, pull out a dryer sheet and wet it. Then wipe the grill or windshield until all bugs are gone.

21. Winter Hat Solution

If you wear hats in the winter, then you know often your hair is a static mess when the hat is removed. To avoid this, rub the inside of the hat with a dryer sheet prior to putting the hat on your head.

22. Winterize Camper

Do you have a camper? Then you know you must winterize it. Part of that is trying to deter critters from making your camper their home. Place dryer sheets inside the camper to deter pests from moving in.

23. Dust Baseboards

Baseboards get dusty. That is a fact. You can easily clean them now though by wiping them down with a dryer sheet. This also deters dust from sticking to them again.

24. Dust Cabinets

Cabinets get dusty too. Don’t waste your time with spraying a cleaner on a rag and dusting. Instead, rub down with a dryer sheet. This not only removes dust but deters it too.

25. Deter Critters

If you have a basement or a garage, then you know how animals like to make it their home if possible. Deter them by placing dryer sheets around those areas since they don’t like the scent.

26. Sleeping Bag Freshener

When you put up your sleeping bag from each camping trip, be sure to put a dryer sheet inside of it. This will not only keep critters out of it, but it will also keep the sleeping bag fresh.

27. Quilt Block Backing

If you are making a block quilt, then you know that you need a backing for each block. Why not use dryer sheets for this? You can sew multiple dryer sheets together if they need to be bigger.

28. Thread Tangling Deterrent

Thread gets tangled rather easily when sewing. The next time you thread a needle, rub the thread down with dryer sheets to deter tangles from happening.

29. Cleans Up Dry Spills

When you spill flour, it can be a big mess with only a small amount of flour. Use a dryer sheet to clean up the dry spill without much fuss.

30. Cleans Up Sawdust

Are you a woodworker? If so, then save your used dryer sheets. When sawdust starts flying, used dryer sheets are great for cleaning up the mess.

31. Removes Dry Sand

Dry sand is my least favorite part of going to the beach. It gets everywhere. The next time you head to the beach, pack dryer sheets with you. Then rub the bottoms of your feet to remove the sand.

32. Fire Starter

If you burn wood, then you’ll need a fire starter. You can easily make your own by stuffing dryer sheets inside toilet paper tubes. Then ignite the fire.

33. Hairbrush Cleaner

When your hairbrush gets dirty it can be tempting to just toss it. Don’t do that. Instead, put a dryer sheet in warm water. Then soak your brush for a few hours. Dry it, and it should be good as new.

34. Stops Diaper Odor

If you have one of those nifty diaper trash cans that come with deodorizers, consider yourself lucky. When I had babies, I didn’t. I did what I knew to do which was to put a trash can near the changing table, place a bag in it, and put a dryer sheet in the bottom.

It killed odors until the trash can needed to be dumped. I saved a bundle too!

35. Deodorant Stain Remover

via chasingfoxes.com

When you go to put on your clothes in the morning, often deodorant rubs off onto your clothing. It seems nothing will take it off. That is until you rub a dryer sheet on the stain. The stain lifts almost instantly.

36. Cleans Strong Odors

I don’t want to gross you out, but if you have children you know they often vomit on everything. You can clean the stain, but the odor stays.

Well, if you put three layers of dryer sheets over the newly cleaned stain and leave it for 24 hours, the odor should be lifted too.

37. Squeaky Shoe Fix

There is nothing more annoying than when you are walking through a building and your shoes squeak. It’s embarrassing. To avoid this in the future, just rub dryer sheets on the bottom of your shoes, and it should stop the squeak.

38. Swiffer Pad Alternative

If you have a Swiffer but are out of the pads don’t rush to the store. Instead, slap a dryer sheet on the bottom of it and dust your floors.

39. Feet Softener

Do you struggle with dry feet? It is an embarrassing and uncomfortable issue. Well, instead of paying for a pedicure just soak your feet in warm water. Then rub them with a dryer sheet to soften your feet.

40. Deer Repellent

As much as we love the scent of dryer sheets, deer do not. You should cut dryer sheets into strips and tie them to trees and branches. The scent will deter deer from your property.

41. HVAC Vent Air Freshener

I use this regularly, and it works wonderfully. You just slide a dryer sheet into the air filter of your HVAC unit. Then let the scent of the dryer sheet be blown throughout your home.

42. Holds Soil in Flower Pots

Do you have a flower pot that is always losing soil? Don’t ditch the pot. Instead, put a dryer sheet in the bottom of the pot to hold the soil in place.

43. Book Deodorizer

Musty books just smell bad. You can fix the smell though. Put the book and a dryer sheet into a sealed bag. Leave it for a couple of days. When you reopen the bag, the musky odor should be gone.

44. Iron Cleaner

Everyone’s clothing iron gets dirty from time to time. You can clean it easily with a dryer sheet. Turn the iron on low heat and run the iron over the dry sheet until all of the grime is removed.

45. Paint Brush Cleaner

If you have old paint brushes, don’t toss them because they are dirty. Instead, soak them in warm water that has a dryer sheet. The paint should come right out.

46. Glass Cleaner

If you have dirty mirrors in your home, don’t think that you need a ton of products to clean it. Instead, just rub a dryer sheet over them and watch them come clean.

47. Removes Crayon Marks

Did a little one color on your walls? Don’t get angry and think that your wall is ruined forever. Just pull out your dryer sheet and rub it on the wall to remove it.

48. Removes Gum from Dryer

My children are notorious for leaving candy and gum in their pockets when putting their clothes in the dirty clothes hamper. I often end up with melted gum or candy in my dryer. You can easily remove the melted gum by wetting a dryer sheet and scrubbing the gum off.

49. Scissor Sharpener

Scissors go dull after a while. You don’t need a fancy sharpener. You just need a used dryer sheet to rub the scissors over to sharpen them again.

50. Shoe Freshener

My sister used to have really stinky feet. She never let her feet breathe and odors developed. One way she combatted the scent in her shoes was by putting dryer sheets inside her shoes while they were in her closet.

51. Window Cleaner

You don’t need fancy cleaning products to clean your windows. Just rub a dryer sheet over them and the smudges should disappear.

52. Make them Last Longer

Dryer sheets are even good for making themselves go farther. All you need to do is cut the dryer sheets in half and use each half two times. They will go much farther that way.

53. Bathroom Deodorizer

I have smelly boys in my house. Therefore, I always need bathroom deodorizers. A great way to do this is to wrap a dryer sheet around the toilet paper holder. Then put the tube of toilet paper back on the holder. The dryer sheet will be discrete while also freshening your bathroom.

54. Towel Deodorizer

If you worry that your towels will get a musky scent while waiting in the closet, then slide a few dryer sheets in between the towels to keep them fresh.

55. Closet Freshener

You can also add dryer sheets in your closet to give it a fresh scent. You just need to pin them up in your closet or place them on a shelf where they have a chance to emit their fresh scent.

56. Kills Fungus Gnats

Gardeners often have to deal with a pest called fungus gnats. They are little bugs that get down in your plants and wreak havoc. Stop that from happening by putting dryer sheets in the soil of your plant. It will draw the gnats and kill them.

57. Bee BBQ Deterrent

Bees are a positive thing to have around your property. Yet, there are times you don’t want them around, like at a picnic. You can deter them by stuffing dryer sheets in the cushions of the lawn furniture. They don’t care for the scent, so they’ll stay away.

58. Clothes Hamper Deodorizer

If you have sweaty clothes from a gym bag or day of working outside, then chances are your clothes hamper stinks too. You just need to drop a dryer sheet in the bottom of the hamper to fight off bad odors.

59. Carpet Freshener

I love this idea for an inexpensive carpet freshener. You just put a dryer sheet in the bag or canister of your vacuum cleaner and vacuum. The dryer sheet should make your carpets have a fresh scent when finished.

60. Marijuana Deodorizer

Finally, marijuana is now legal in some places. If you are someone who partakes in that but doesn’t want your home to smell of it, then you should consider stuffing a paper towel tube full of dryer sheets. When you exhale the smoke, blow it through the tube to dilute the scent of the marijuana.

Hopefully, these 60 uses will help you to get more bang for your buck when it comes to utilizing dryer sheets.
